Governors

Governors Annual Report-2015-16

Dear Parents/Carers,

I have recently been elected as Chair of Governors and wanted to write to you on behalf of all the Governors at High Lane Primary School.

At High Lane School, Governors and all the staff, parents and children work as a team, building on successes, in a happy, creative and high-attaining environment where everyone feels valued. We are proud of the high standards our pupils achieve in all areas both within the curriculum and in extra- curricular activities.

As Governors we consider our most important role is to ensure the welfare and education of all the pupils. We are very proud of the children in our school.

Governors become involved in a variety of issues including finance, curriculum, pupil welfare, policies, buildings/ grounds and staff appointments.

The Governing Body provides the Headteacher and staff with support, advice and information, drawing on its members’ knowledge and skills. It also asks questions of the school to help clarify and focus upon key issues.

We help to target key school objectives, and to ensure that planning for the future is both visionary and realistic. We are here to support and encourage our Headteacher, Senior Leadership Team and all school personnel, so children have access to an enriched and creative education and the opportunity to reach their full potential.

The School Improvement Plan is at the heart of the school’s vision and ethos. It details our aims and objectives for the ongoing development of the school.

Our priorities focus on the following areas:

  1. Achievement and progress of all pupils
  2. Quality of teaching
  3. The behaviour and safety of pupils
  4. The leadership and management of the school

This letter is also an opportunity for Governors to thank all parents and carers for their support in encouraging their children to do their best. During these early years of education academic, social and creative skills are nurtured and developed and it is our school’s aim to foster this development through the encouragement of strong links between school and home.

Yours sincerely,

Eryl Hughes
