It was a very wet and cold Woodbank Park at the end of January, but that didn’t put off our runners as we had 24 turn out to race; together, they produced some of our best results of the season.
Sophie’s 6th place and Imogen’s 9th place were their highest finishes and Lauren was closely behind in 13th. Strong runs from our other runners (Beth, Rose, Mia, Emily, Hannah and Isobel) means that High Lane currently lie in second place in the overall competition.
The year 3/4 boys’ race saw some familiar faces near the top, but in a different order, with Liam leading the way in 9th place, closely followed by Finlay in 10th and Isaac in 11th. First timer, Sam (Y4), and the year 3 boys Oliver, Harley, Lewis and Theo all ran well to put High Lane in second place in this competition too.
The year 5/6 girls’ team of Freya, Amelia, Sophie, Hannah K, Hannah W and Eleanor moved themselves up to 4th place overall. Finally, Will and Dan produced their best results of the season so far; in Dan’s case by 28 places!
Thank you to all our wonderful supporters and special thanks to Mr Hill for stepping into Mrs Hill’s ‘Head Coach’ role for the day.
Due to a clash of events, we had just two runners competing at the Wythenshawe League event last Saturday. They more than made up for the lack of numbers, though, with a stunning 4th place for Will and an equally amazing 11th place for Jonathan. Well done boys.
Greater Manchester Schools’ Cross Country Championship
We’re delighted that Hannah Wilson was selected to represent Stockport at this event at Heaton Park. This annual Championship involves all 10 authorities around Manchester and takes place on one of the toughest cross-country courses. We’re really proud of Hannah’s performance, she finished 81st out of a field of 140 of the best runners in the Greater Manchester area. Excellent effort Hannah!
